 2025, the excitement at Lakeside continues! Get ready for an action-packed second half of the bowling season with plenty of fun and competition still to come.

 

Beat The Champs

The first week of December is dedicated to the Storm Bowling and the Illinois State BPA’s 62nd Beat the Champs Tournament, which begins on Sunday, December 1, 2024. This event is open to all USBC-certified leagues bowling at Lakeside. Some of our leagues have opted to participate fully in this annual charity event, while league bowlers from non-participating leagues will still have an opportunity to compete. Additional details are available on display at Lakeside or can be reviewed on the Beat the Champs (BTC) website. Updates on which bowlers advance from Lakeside leagues will be shared as they become available.

BTC Youth Division:

Lakeside is proud to once again sponsor entry into the Beat the Champs Youth Division for all our Saturday Youth League bowlers! Youth bowlers will qualify during league play, following the same process as the adult bowlers. Those not participating in the IHSA season will use their scores from the final day of the first session to qualify.

 

GLC Women's Championship

The Greater Lake County USBC Women’s Championship will take place from January 11 to January 25, featuring Team, Doubles, and Singles events. Jennifer Vacker will serve as the Tournament Director. Entry forms are available at the center and can also be downloaded from the association's website.
 

The Coors Light / Illinois State BPA Pins-Over-Average Tournament is back this year! This exciting event runs for two weeks (February–March), giving bowlers two chances to bowl above their average and advance to the next level. Like the Beat the Champs event, this tournament guarantees 100% participation, allowing bowlers from your league to move on to the next round.

 

The Illinois State Pepsi Zone 2 Tournament: This annual event will be hosted at Lakeside February 1st and 2nd for the U8/U10/U12 Divisions and March 1st and 2nd for the U15/U18 Divisions. To learn more about the Youth Pepsi Tournament visit the USBC website. 


 

Lakeside Mixed Doubles Tournament Saturday, March 29, 2025. Check-in: 11:00 AM, Bowl: Noon. Entry into this event cost $100 per team and a First Place prize of $1,000.00 based on 48 entries with a 1:4 cash ratio. Teams must consist of 1-Male and 1-Female bowler. This is a Handicap event using 85% of Team 430. The format includes a 4-Game Qualifying round that will cut to the top 8 doubles teams that will go on to bowl best of 3 Baker Game matches to decide our champions. May 5, 2025 IESA Sectionals

The Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA) will host the middle school sectional events at Lakeside. Bowling was added to the IESA sports lineup in 2011. In 2024, 87 teams participated in four sectional events held across Illinois. If your kids enjoy bowling and attend a local middle school, encourage them to join their school’s team—sign-ups will begin soon at your local school. Lakeside is proud to host the Hawthorn Middle School team, which is expected to participate in this year’s event. The Bowling Club will begin in February 2025!

Lakeside Scratch Baker Challenge

Saturday, May 11, 2025 11:00 AM

The Scratch Baker Challenge is back for 2025 with a limited field of 24 teams. Entry is $350 per team. There are no gender restrictions, and the maximum team entering average is 1125. 2024 Team captains will have until April 5th to secure their teams entry before teams spots are offered to teams on the waiting list. DUAL ON THE LAKES

Saturday, June 21, 2025

Noon and 6:00 PM Squads

Join us for an exciting new crossover event between two bowling centers: Lakeside Recreation Center in Mundelein and Lakes Bowl in Round Lake. The competition starts with four games at Lakeside and concludes at Lakes Bowl.

Event Details:

  • Two divisions for handicap bowlers (199 and under, using 90% of 200)

  • Scratch division for bowlers averaging 200+

  • Challenge-rated conditions at both centers

  • Dual-pattern stepladder finals

  • Don't miss this unique competitive experience!


 

Annual July Handicap Team Bowling Tournament 

1st PLACE: $2,000.00 (based on 100 teams)  

Last year, over 180 teams participated!  

Teams can consist of Men, Women, or Mixed groups.

Tournament Dates July 11, 2025 – August 3, 2025 

Entries Close: August 3, 2025, at 8:00 PM  

Check-In Begins: 1 hour before squad time  

Organizer Incentive, organize 6 or more teams for a specific squad (date and time) to earn a squad prize.  

This event will feature a cash ratio: 1:5, will use a handicap of 90% of team 900 with no average limit. 

Optional Singles  Entry Fee: $5.00 per event  

 Open Handicap, Open Scratch, Women’s Handicap & Women’s Scratch with a payout ratio of 1:10 using a Handicap of 90% of 225.

Bowlers may cash more than once, but only once in the top 10.

Lakeside 2025 House Championship

We will again be offering complimentary entries into the highly anticipated annual house tournament. Both male and female bowlers across all four average divisions have the chance to earn a free entry into their average division by having the highest series with handicap during the 2024-2025 season. Details of who's leading per average division will be posted on our website and displayed on our Tournament Bulletin Board. 

Bowlers can also enroll directly in this event up until the day of your average squad's scheduled participation, subject to lane availability.

Mark Your Calendars with these Event Dates:

Sunday, Date, 2025: 149 and under, 150-184, and 185-204 average divisions.

Sunday, Date, 2025: 205+ scratch division.


 

Lakeside Queens Tournament - May 31, 2025

Open to all USBC women bowlers aged 18 and older. Entry fee: $65. The tournament features a four-game qualifier, with half the field advancing. There are two average divisions: one for bowlers with an average below 200, and a 200+ Scratch Division. Each division is limited to 48 bowlers.

Check-in begins at 11:00 AM, with the squad starting at Noon. Pots and brackets will be available during the first round of qualifying.
